Carl & Allan's Recommended Funds

Your Personal RRSP Plan has a wide variety of investment options. These include over 2,000 different Mutual Funds (virtually all with NO front or rear-end load), GICs, Canada Savings Bonds, Stocks, Bonds and much more.

With so many choices we want to make it easy. Our Investment Executives have prepared a list of recommended funds for the individual investor. Life cycle funds
Our top recommendation this year for most payroll and pre-authorized contribution plans are Life Cycle/Target Date funds. These have replaced balanced funds as our best professionally managed “one decision option.” While they are new to Canada, these funds automatically rebalance over time, and then become more conservative as you approach retirement. Equity Funds

Balanced Funds
People selecting from this group generally want to hold more conservative RRSP investments. Balanced funds generally have lower risk than equity funds, because they hold a blend of stocks and bonds. Ideal for an all-in-one investment or to balance existing portfolios:

Bond Funds
As you approach retirement, bond funds can provide the stable income required. However, yields have been so low lately that bonds & GICs might be a better option for any lump sum purchase:
